Abstract

‘Para’ Phrase – Colour Phase’ is hand-set and printed in 9 point Didot Sabon and 14 point Didot Nord Italique. Printed in grey plus 8 colours on Zerkall mould-made paper and hand-sewn as an eight page booklet. Bound into a folded sheet of Fabriano Ingres green paper printed in 28 point Didot Sabon. The booklet explores the relationship between colour and word meaning. 6 words are printed for each of 6 basic colours where their meaning could be reinforced by the hue. An extracted text from Wassily Kandinsky’s Concerning the Spiritual in Art is printed as a supporting narrative on colour–sound relationships. 100 copies for the fpba plus 40 for private distribution.

Additional Information: Spring 2010, Issue 18: In addition to the standard edition of its journal, ‘Parenthesis’, the association also publish a special or de luxe edition of 100 copies. These are specially bound by hand and include a separate portfolio of work from fne presses, printmakers and typographers from around the world. These are for private and institutional subscribers, such as national libraries and other collections.
