Abstract

The paper presents a fuzzy optimization modeling for apparel fit design. The apparel fit issue is associated with mass-production of clothes and mass customization. The emerging technologies such as 3D body scanning and 3D visualization have enabled accurate 3D body measurements and virtual try-on design and apparel fit evaluation. However, the apparel fit is a very complicated issue, it is not only related to accurate body measurements, but also to body shapes, functional and motion needs, and personal preference. The proposed optimization model is capable of addressing general multi-dimensional fit issues and can be solved by a stepwise optimization process.
