Abstract

In the developed countries, the development of products for elderly people, such as daily used products and healing machines, has been done for many years and many products have been put in use. However, the research on those products is just being started in China. The study on the product design for elderly people is urgently required for the society. This paper presents our studies on the current bathroom products in elderly peoplepsilas living environment in Tianjin city, aiming to identify current bathroom product design problems related to the elderly people living environment. The 170 elderly people were randomly selected as our study subjects. They were divided into different groups based on gender and the level of income, the education and living environment. The SPSS tool has been utilised to analyse collected data and good interpretations and suggestions have been made for improving bathroom product design.
