Abstract

This paper presents a comparison between conventional two-stage battery charger consisting of power factor correction (PFC) stage seeding DCDC half bridge LLC resonant converter and a single-stage bridgeless topology. Efficiency, electrical stress, and simplicity are considered as main performance criteria. A brief description of the design and performance analysis is given for each case. To validate the theory, a 750W, 48V DC output battery charger with universal input volatge 85-265V 50/60 Hz is simulated in Matlab/Simulink under different load and grid voltage conditions.
