Additional Information: This paper presents a computationally efficient analysis of an increasingly important practical antenna structure. An equivalent circuit model is developed that facilitates antenna design and optimisation. The work presented provided the basis for further research on design optimisation in cross-slot antenna structures using genetic algorithms. Modelling is endorsed by practical results for real antennas, with the work assisting in the design of antennas used in commercial traffic management systems.
