Additional Information: This work was in collaboration with the technical university of Heilbronn and Buerket GmbH industrial partner supporting a PhD student based at Buerket. Buerket make high quality valves including over 50% of those used in heart bypass machines. The paper shows an innovative mixture of image and signal processing for condition monitoring of a wide range of valves.
