This paper presents the on-line diagnosis of the three-phase induction motor. The case of the inter-turn short circuits in stator windings is studied and an approach with observers is used to deal with fault detection. First, a model of the inter-turn short circuits in stator windings of induction motor is developed. This model is written in fault affine form that permits to express fault as an input vector applied to the system. This formulation constitutes a new model of the faulty three-phase induction motor. The observer's synthesis, intended to fault detection, is done by use of the sliding mode technique. The processing of observation errors and residuals permits fault isolation. Results of simulation, in the healthy and faulty working cases are given.
