This joint conference between the Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) and the Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Strathclyde was hosted at the University on 7th of July 2009. It aimed to bring together academics, practitioners and policy makers involved in forensic science. The focus of this one-day meeting was to reflect on the landmark report by the United States National Academy of Sciences “Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States: A Path Forward” [1] and in particular to consider its implications for forensic science within the UK and Europe.
