Abstract

Bringing together an internationally respected group of scholars, this volume examines the causes of crime victimisation, its extent, nature and impact upon social divisions in society; victimological theory; the policy context; practice in relation to working with victims of crime; comparative victimology and victimological research.

Issues addressed include victimological perspectives; age and community victimisation; victims of surveillance and the criminal justice system and victim support across the world. An overview of these wide-ranging themes and issues is provided by the editors in a concise and accessible introductory chapter. The concluding chapter looks towards a restorative social policy response to crime victims.
