Abstract
Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) is an emerging technique for the re-conditioning of damaged donor lungs prior to transplantation. Previous work has demonstrated improvement in gas exchange in lungs subjected to this technique; however, the effect of EVLP on inflammation has not yet been examined. We hypothesised that a potential benefit of EVLP in re-conditioning donor lungs may be due to modification of the inflammatory profile.
