Kaizen is one of the foundations in the TPS and a key principle of Lean Production. Adopting Kaizen has proved to be not easy, and even harder to sustain in the long-term. Two other similar methods (Kaikaku and Kaizen blitz) are recently becoming more popular. This study employed fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to pairwise-compare these methods. The data are collected from 28 Sino-Japanese joint ventures experts. The results indicated that Personnel (human resource) is the most important factor for Kaizen, whilst Software (essential rules, policies and institutional arrangements) weights second and Hardware (physical, measurable hard facts or resources) weights last.
