Abstract

This paper provides substantial evidence for a cholinergic influence on motoneurons that maintain continence and subserve sexual reflexes. Ultrastructural studies demonstrated terminals with characteristic C-type morphology and that the numbers of these terminals, in aged rats, were largely maintained in spinal regions modulating these behaviours.
