Abstract

This article draws on a series of previously unpublished letters between Burke and Moore, held in the correspondence files at the Rosenbach Museum. This article is the first to discuss in-depth, Moore’s relationship with Burke, in relation to her poetry and to link Moore’s poetry to the philosophical tradition of pragmatism. Bazin is currently one of only two scholars working on Moore in the UK. Professor Cristanne Miller (president of the Modernist Studies Association) contacted Bazin on the basis of this article and her support and guidance since then has proved invaluable.
