We introduce and define the novel concept of Eco-Socio Innovation (ESI) by theorizing the role of social innovations in sustainable entrepreneurship. In building on Thompson’s Environment-Values-Resources (EVR) framework, we theorize how ESI can be understood, conceptualized and applied in practice both in terms of: (i) the relevance and applicability of the EVR framework; and (ii) how Eco-Socio driven innovations enacted by sustainable entrepreneurs can have direct positive ecological impacts that cascade into indirect social outcomes.
