Abstract

The introduction of change is almost universally accompanied by dissent. Psychologically we are programmed to repetition or reproduction of the familiar in preference to the novel unless (and sometimes despite) the familiar being obviously unsatisfactory. It is not surprising, therefore, that the proposals to change the method of entering the legal profession have met with opposition. This particular paper will not engage with the merits of the arguments on either side, its purpose is simply to engage with the data generated by the consultation and the reporting of that data. I have highlighted the areas in the SRA’s document that caught my attention.
