Abstract

It is never an easy task to govern the contemporary food provisioning and prevent contaminated foods from reaching further down of the chains. This paper aims to investigate the ex post practices to manage food supply chain quality risk. The data is collected from 133 practitioners in UK food industry. The results indicate that obtaining information and seeking government support are two of the ex post actions to reduce risk and make a fast recovery from the emerging incident. Other actions including checking with suppliers and disclose suppliers information. These are deemed to be actions to reduce supply chain complexity and increase product traceability.
