Many computer-based security services are required by modern society through cipher/decipher, authentication and integrity. Security services are implemented by symmetric (block and keystream) or asymmetric cryptographic systems. This paper describes a keystream cryptographic system for the smart card information encryption using the Lorenz hyperchaotic system. Hence, we propose the development of a hyperchaotic pseudorandom number generator (HC-PRNG) to generate cryptographic keys and to be used as a cryptographic algorithm in smart cards. We also analyze the security issue of the proposed keystream cryptographic system in terms of the execution time. Finally, we compare our proposed cryptographic system against well-known standardized cryptographic systems in terms of performance for cipher/decipher and authentication services according to the implementation of a resource constraint of smart cards.
