Abstract
The objective of this research is to explore the role of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the entrepreneurial activity and regional development. A mixed analysis -qualitative and quantitative methodologies- was applied in the Central West region of Mexico. Results shows how certain elements of the ecosystem have influenced in the configuration of an entrepreneurial diversity (rural-urban, technological-no technological, familiar-no familiar) in the region. The results also provide some insights about the impact of this entrepreneurial diversity on the social and economic development of the region. From the results obtained, a series of implications are presented to the agents involved in the ecosystem in the analyzed region.
