Abstract

The theme of the conference was 'Law in Politics and Politics in Law'. This paper drew together the issues of aid for trade and the impact of that agenda for small island developing states in the Pacific region. Against a background of international policy documents and treaties the paper moved from the international arena to regional initiatives and local developments aimed at meeting the challenge of balancing indigenous concerns with national and international agendas in the context of intellectual property law.
