Abstract

The Sixth Northumbria Conference provided a platform for the presentation and discussion of the many facets of work going on in the University to enhance the student experience. The conference was organised on the basis of three main themes, Learning and Teaching, Research and Teaching and Student Support. A new feature of the conference was the active involvement of students, including a presentation from the Students Union, student panel for the Dragons Den session, which judged the merits of several Research and Teaching teams bidding for hypothetical funding plus student delegates judged the best poster at the conference. As in previous years, the Conference intended to promote delegate involvement in the proceedings, with staff and student delegates questioning senior members of staff involved in Learning and Teaching, Research and Teaching and Student Support during the Question and Answer session. Delegates also had an opportunity to work with colleagues on student support issues in the informal setting of a World Café.
