Abstract

Goat Major Projects, Cardiff, Wales present the exhibition, Tips for Artists by Common Culture.Through a series of posters Common Culture offer tips, among other things, on theory (and how and when to use it), democratic processes, fundraising, regional accents, and provincial anxieties. Tips for Artists borrows an established Conceptual Art form through which to deliver incisive, comic and critical remarks and anecdotes about contemporary art and its contexts. The exhibition consists of eight prints, each 87 x 87 cm and is accompanied by a limited edition print of 25 of tip number 71 (entailing advice about fundraising). Tips for Artists existed previously in the form of a publication commissioned by Grizedale Arts as part of a group show ‘Now I Gotta Reason’ at the Jerwood Space, London in December 2012.
