Abstract

This book addresses the use and re-use of the three main materials (metals, timber and concrete) used in construction. It also examines by products from many industries and processes that are incorporated into materials used in the construction industry. The construction industry is a major waste producing industry (Baldwin et al 2009) and therefore due to its inherent size, may have many on-site recycling opportunities, without transportation costs, that offer good environmental solutions to waste management.
