Abstract
Grotesque Mediocrity is an essay discussing the work by Colin Darke and is published to accompany his solo exhibition 'Grotesque Mediocrity' heldat the MAC, Belfast (8 Aug 2014 - 19 Oct 2014).The essay traces the theoretical and formal concerns of the work and develops a critical context for an understanding of the exhibition in relation to commodity fetishism, political representation and the work's relationship to Brecht, Jarry and Marx.
