Collaborating with companies, businesses and industries is an important part of the mission of Northumbria University. This paper discusses how such external links support the main aims of the University mission i.e. the production of high quality teaching, research and enterprise, and how these in turn support the external links. The examples used are based on the links developed by the School of Computing, Engineering and information Science (CEIS) at Northumbria University. The links play an important role in improving student employment after graduation.
