Abstract
Performance as a Field of Negotiation in Contemporary Art
2014 is an art festival that integrates two approaches to performance art: as a manifestation of ideas and as an open process. Finding the right proportions between the two should create the optimal formula of a contemporary, modern festival.
In the foreground of the project the curator Janusz Bałdyga situated the festival’s two main areas. The first, tentatively called manifestation, presented new, recent projects by performance artists and those operating at the crossover of performance art, film and sound. The second, referred to as open process, created a field for workshop experiences and the presentation of their results during the festival.
The workshop comprised of 3 groups:
1. Sandra Johnson + three members of her students, graduates
2. Janusz Bałdyga/Marta Bosowska + five students
3. Volodymyr Kaufman + three young participants of the School of Performance project in Lviv.
