Abstract
This article reports on a workshop on group work assessment, led by the author, at the GEES Subject Centre ‘Assessment for Learning’ (AfL) conference at the University of Manchester on 22nd June 2009. It explores the benefits and pitfalls associated with group work assessment before considering the key elements in developing good practice, using the principles of AfL as a framework (McDowell et al. 2005). Discussion is based on key findings from the literature and participant discussion during the workshop.
